How Do I Get the Best Deal on TurboTax in 2026?

What Is a TurboTax Service Code?
A service code is a 7-digit alpha-numeric code issued directly to customers by a TurboTax customer support agent over the phone for “special circumstances” including a specific promotion, credit, or refund. Service codes are entered at checkout, can only be used once, and expire on Oct. 15th, 2026.
You probably won’t need to enter a service code, as the featured discounts are applied just by clicking promotional links. If you were issued a code, here’s how to use it.
How to Use a Service Code Online:
Service codes can be used just before completing your purchase at turbotax.intuit.com. Just before submitting your tax return, you’ll see a text link that says, “I have a service code,” Click that and enter your valid code. Then, click apply, and the applicable discount should be applied to your purchase and itemized under Total Savings in the Order Summary box.
If your service code is invalid you’ll get a message saying, “Service code not recognized.”
You can change or reenter your service code by clicking, “manage service code“ next to the confirm payment button as shown above. If you still have issues, have your account info ready and contact customer support at 1-800-446-8848.
TurboTax Service Code Free?
Service codes are not posted for public use, and do not provide free access to TurboTax products. The only way to get TurboTax for free with a service code is if it was issued directly to you due to special circumstances, like a billing error or refund.
While you can’t use a service code to file free in 2026, there are 2 other two ways:
- Switch to TurboTax and file free through the app through 2/28/26 (excludes Expert) View promotion

TurboTax Discount or Service Code Not Working?
If you clicked on a promotional link or entered a service code and the coupon is not applied to your online order total, hopefully, we can help.
The most common reasons for TurboTax coupons to not work are due to coupon expiration or the security measures on turbotax.intuit.com.
Your tax information is incredibly sensitive, so cookies on Intuit sites are often blocked, including ones that apply a coupon to your order. (Hey, who doesn’t want a cookie?!)
This means that people who have already started their tax return may have a problem applying a TurboTax discount at checkout. The good news is that there is usually a quick fix. Try going back to the Review screen and click continue. Still not working?
Here’s what to do if your coupon or TurboTax Service code is not working:
- Log out of turbotax.intuit..com
- Click on our featured deal to apply the discount
- Log back into the turbotax.intuit.com site and review your order
- You should see the lower price and a message that says, “Your discount has been applied”
- If the coupon is still not working, you may have to clear your browser cache or even delete your cookies (How?)
Tip: Keep in mind that promotions are time-sensitive, and service codes are one-time use only. So, if you got a code from Reddit or a coupon site, it’s probably not valid!
New TurboTax Expert Assist & Full Service Promotion
As a one-man small business, my taxes aren’t simple. I spend money on advertising, subscriptions, software, and more and work out of my home office. I also have investments and a mortgage. For this reason, my taxes are a bit complex and I depend on every deduction possible.
